Her Locker Was a Disaster by Week Two. Here’s What Actually Fixed It.

Then, two weeks into the school year, my daughter came home and casually mentioned her math folder was lost “somewhere in her locker”— while pointing vaguely into space as if her locker was some form of black hole she’d made peace with. I went in to help her organize it during a school event, and, well. She was right. It was a black hole. Turns out lockers don’t come with any actual storage—just one shelf and a hook, and somehow eight subjects’ worth of stuff is supposed to live in there for a year. New backpack, fresh supplies, a planner she promised she’d use. I felt prepared. And then within about two weeks, everything started slipping. Assignments weren’t written down. Papers disappeared. Projects showed up the night before they were due. I kept thinking:  we have everything… so why does this feel so chaotic?
